5th annual Cultural Gathering educates students on Indigenous life


Today marked the 5th annual Cultural Gathering on campus.

The event presented by the McMaster Indigenous Student Community Alliance – MICSA, brought together communities on- and off-campus to celebrate and educate about Indigenous culture. It also provided local First Nations students with insight into post-secondary life.

The day involved First Nations, Inuit and Metis dancers and performers who shared their art and culture in a variety of forms.

Other activities included:

  • Food tasting
  • Blanket Exercise — going over the history of colonization
  • First Nations and Metis dance demonstrations
  • Inuit performance
  • silent auction
  • Indigenous vendors
