As in previous years, the nominations were reviewed by the President's Awards Advisory Committee and were evaluated based on the criteria of providing exceptional service, contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of operations, and enhancing the reputation of McMaster University. These recommendations were then presented to the President for final approval.

Commenting on another year of superb nominations, President Peter George said “the quality of this year's nominations was exceptional. This group of recipients and nominees are an inspiration to me personally and I am grateful for their unfailing commitment to excellence at McMaster.” In the packages sent to the nominees, the awards advisory committee said, “It has been an inspiration to read about the outstanding contributions which you have made to McMaster University.”

Peter George will host a reception in honour of all of the recipients and nominees on Wednesday, May 17 at 3 p.m. in Convocation Hall.
