Move-in, Faculty and Residence pride, team-building, campus touring, concerts, and more! These are just a handful of the events that are planned for all incoming first-year students.

Welcome Week kicks off with residence move-in on August 26 and 27 and the distribution of MacPasses from 11:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m., followed by two optional times for SOCS opening ceremonies from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and again from 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Students can look forward to being introduced to long-standing McMaster traditions including the McMaster Welcome, Air Bands, MacQuest excursions on and off campus, Shinerama charity casino that raises money for Cystic Fibrosis, and PJ Parade to Westdale’s Westfest. Events range from an array of social, cultural and athletic activities, meeting University leaders, enjoying exclusive concerts, and having countless opportunities to make new friends.

The Student Success Centre is offering several orientation workshops, MacAdemics, throughout the week to help students with academic success. New this year is a talk taking place in residences about why creativity is a core part of all skills. Series will be lead by public speaker and published author Hamza Khan, who has been featured on media outlets such as CBC, CTV, Toronto Star, and The Globe and Mail.

McMaster University is committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive, safe and healthy educational environment which supports personal and academic success. This is achieved through three strategic themes: mental health and wellness, sexual and gender-based violence prevention, and responsible drinking.
