Beginning on August 27th, Welcome Week will begin with residence move-in for incoming students in the morning and the distribution of MacPasses from 11:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., followed by SOCS opening ceremonies from 3:45 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and residence opening ceremonies from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Events to look forward to this week include concerts in Faculty Hollow, MacQuest excursions around campus and the Hamilton community, MSU Shinerama charity casino night that raises money for Cystic Fibrosis, PJ Parade beginning on campus and moving through the Westdale community to WestFest, and football game against Carleton University.

A series of events focused on mental health and wellness, gender-based violence prevention, and responsible drinking are also scheduled throughout Welcome Week. They include an interactive talk with Nova Browning Rutherford and a performance by former world poetry slam champion Ian Keteku, former national slam champions Sabrina Benaim and IF the POET.
