Undergraduate scholars share their research at USRA Poster Session

USRA

Things are looking up for the 2014 Undergraduate Student Research Award winners, who will share their research and experiences at the annual USRA Poster Session on Thursday, Nov. 6 in CIBC Hall. The event runs from 2-4 p.m.

Their work in the labs and libraries may be long over, but the 2014 Undergraduate Student Research Award (USRA) winners want to share their findings and experiences at the USRA Poster Session on Thursday, Nov. 6.

The annual event is an opportunity for McMaster and the greater Hamilton community to learn about the innovative and important research being done by young scholars from across all faculties.

The Poster Session will feature work from more than 50 undergraduate researchers who spent their summer exploring diverse areas — from examining a changing Canadian identity in literature, to the development of biosensors that can be used by frontline health care workers in the fight against infectious disease.

The USRA Poster Session is co-ordinated by the Office of Undergraduate Research (OURMac), which is housed in the School of Graduate Studies.

Adding some SPICES to the afternoon:

The SPICES Showcase will be an added feature of this year’s Poster Session.

Learn more about Student Proposals for Intellectual Community and Engaged Scholarship (SPICES) — a Graduate Studies program that funds and supports projects initiated and led by McMaster graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.

Representatives from several current SPICES projects will be on hand to speak about their initiatives. Information about applying for SPICES funding will also be available.

Both events will take place Thursday, Nov. 6 from 2-4 p.m. in CIBC Hall (Third Floor MUSC).
