A three-day fall recess was approved by McMaster’s Senate Wednesday.

The break – consisting of a Thursday, Friday and Saturday – was approved for a two-year trial, to start with the 2013 fall academic term.

The first break will take place October 31 through November 2, 2013.

Undergraduate Council will use the two-year trial to assess the benefits of the recess. It will then determine if it should become permanent.

The trial break will not have an impact on the length of the 62-day term. Fall 2013 classes will end Dec. 4 and exams will be scheduled from December 6 to 20.
