McMaster students travelled to George R. Allan Public School for the annual Halloween Pumpkin Hike Friday. The student spent the day carving pumpkins, which will be displayed along a path in Westdale's Churchill Park Friday night.

McMaster students were at neighbouring George R. Allan public school Friday preparing for an annual Halloween tradition.

The students spent the day with the youth, carving pumpkins for the Pumpkin Hike at Westdale’s Churchill Park.

Students can dress up in their Halloween costumes and hike a length of trail adjacent to Cootes Paradise Friday night. The pathway will be lined with the jack-o’-lanterns.

The initiative is a collaboration between McMaster’s Student Community Support Network, student club Smiling Over Sickness and the G.R. Allan Home and School Association.

“The Pumpkin Walk is a great opportunity for McMaster students to get involved in something that also engages the community,” said Erika Richter, the SCSN’s director.

Student groups volunteering at the school include the Emergency First Response Team and the Maroons spirit squad.
