Public lecture: Peter F. Ittinuar
Peter F. Ittinuar, Canada’s First Inuk Member of Parliament, will be on campus on Thursday, December 1, 2016 to deliver a public lecture followed by a discussion.
Born in 1950 in Chestereld Inlet, an Inuit community on the west coast of Hudson Bay, Ittinuar was elected to the House of Commons in 1979. He experienced the period of Canada’s constitutional repatriation and was instrumental in securing Section 35 on Aboriginal Rights.
