Notice of Death/Memorial Service: Ezio Cappadoccia

A memorial service will held on campus this Friday for Ezio Cappadoccia, professor emeritus, Department of History, who died yesterday at St. Joseph's Hospital.

Cappadoccia was a member of the history department from 1966 to 1989, teaching European history, and he served as chair of the department from 1970 to 1977. He will be remembered for his vivid classroom presence, and his continuous support of music and cultural activities in Hamilton.

Ezio Cappadoccia was born in Pisterzo, Italy, and emigrated to Canada in 1934. He received both his BA and MA from the University of Toronto and his PhD from the University of Chicago in 1957.

He is survived by his wife, Helen, three children, and one grandchild.

Visitation at the Cattel Eaton and Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main St., Dundas on Thursday, July 6 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

The memorial service is planned for Friday, July 7 from 3 to 4 p.m. in Convocation Hall, with a reception from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Great Hall of the Faculty Club.

The family requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice instead of flowers.
