McMaster employees to be honoured for outstanding service

Photo by Susan Bubak.”]The McMaster community is invited to attend a reception to celebrate this year's recipients of the President's Awards for Outstanding Service in 2007.

President Peter George will present awards to eight individual employees and two employee teams in Convocation Hall, located in University Hall, on Thursday, May 15 from 3 to 4:30 p.m.

“I was quite surprised and honoured to learn that I had received a President's Award,” said Connie Barry, manager of the McMaster Automotive Centre in Materials Science & Engineering. “Over my 20 years here, I have had the privilege of working with a great number of people who put tremendous effort into doing their jobs well, and I am flattered that I have been selected for this award.”

In addition to Barry, the other individual award recipients include:

  • Leah Allan, special projects coordinator & undergraduate lab coordinator, Department of Chemistry

  • Rena Cornelius, research engineer, Departments of Pathology &
    Molecular Medicine, Chemical Engineering

  • Julie Fairservice, clinic director, Campus Health Centre
  • Jane Howe, licensing officer, McMaster Industry Liaison Office
  • Debbie Lobban, receptionist/secretary, Department of History
  • Brent Warren, custodian, Facility Services

  • Donna Waxman, research assistant, Department of Psychology,
    Neuroscience & Behaviour

    The team award recipients include:

  • Boiler House Team: Patrick Burke, Dave Cowden, Doug Dick, Colin Easthope, Joe Emberson, Tint Khine, Mike Macala, John MacIntyre, Ron Moroz, Carl Sterback, Randy Walsh and Hase Williams
  • BScN Program Staff Team: Michelle Allan, Anne Bolender, Helen Buac, Michelle Buchner, Martha Davis, Connie Heckbert, Kelly Edge, Wendy Lejambe, Vicki Lewis, Brenda Montesanto, Liz Reeves and Carlene Viinberg

    Fifty-four employees were nominated by members of the McMaster community for making an outstanding contribution to the mission of the University. Since 1997, McMaster has celebrated the contributions of hundreds of exceptional employees and team members.
