Emergency water shut-off at 5 p.m. for specific campus buildings

Due to a watermain break on McMaster’s main campus, water will be shut off in certain buildings starting at 5 p.m. for six to eight hours.

The water shut-off will impact

  • Mills Memorial Library
  • the Life Sciences Building and Greenhouse
  • McMaster University Student Centre
  • Media Production Services
  • Gilmour Hall
  • L.R. Wilson Hall
  • the McMaster Museum of Art
  • Divinity College.

These buildings remain open, but washrooms and drinking fountains will be closed. Classes will continue as scheduled.

Use this interactive map to find accessible washrooms on campus.

Laboratory operations requiring access to water, including where emergency eyewash stations and showers may be needed or handwashing practices are required, should be shut down until water is available in the building.

Food services at La Piazza in McMaster University Student Centre will be limited to grab-and-go options. Tim Hortons, Booster Juice, Starbucks and Teriyaki Experience will close. Hospitality Services has provided a list of food services open in other areas.

Updates will be provided on Daily News and social media when more information is available.
