As the end of the year approaches, here are two key updates from McMaster University Technology Services (UTS) that will affect campus technology operations and services:

1. UTS will have reduced hours of operation during the upcoming holiday closure.

UTS will continue to monitor critical systems over the holiday closure, but there will be no support for Mac ID or account management during this time. In the event of any critical systems issues, UTS will attempt to restore services as quickly as possible, but response times may be slower than normal.

2. UTS has released its monthly weekend maintenance schedule for 2023.

As part of ongoing efforts to increase McMaster’s network reliability and performance, UTS conducts regular maintenance over the weekends once a  month. Scheduled monthly maintenance time is for significant repairs, installations, upgrades, testing, patches, and other procedures, and may cause limited or interrupted access to McMaster’s IT system resources.

Each year, UTS develops a yearly maintenance schedule in consultation with community partners and posts it for the university community’s awareness. Please note that the schedule is subject to change. Communications will be shared in advance of anticipated service interruptions.
