Hannah History of Medicine and Medical Humanities speaker series presents:

Mutiny and the Disabled in the 18th-Century Royal Greenwich Hospital 

Disabled British ex-sailors engaged in mutiny to protest their circumstances in the 18th-century Royal Greenwich Hospital of the British Navy. These events allow us to explore expectations of those in authority, and how in practice the men acted to change their circumstances and experience of the Hospital. This example provides historical perspectives on disability, military veterans, and how patient agency can change health policy, even in the top-down world of the military hospital.
