The search for McMaster’s new Vice-President, Research (VPR) is now underway.
The VPR oversees the university’s extensive research ecosystem, leading initiatives that help researchers secure and manage funding, connect with research and industry partners, and support programming and initiatives that accelerate innovation, commercialization and entrepreneurship across campus.
The VPR also plays a vital role in building relationships with government, granting agencies, industry and other partners to attract additional funding and create new opportunities for researchers. As well, the VPR promotes and highlights the university’s research successes and works to enhance the national and global reputation of McMaster research and scholarship.
More information about this position can be found here.
The selection committee has been approved by Senate and the Board of Governors and have begun meeting. The full list of Committee members can be found here.
The search committee is being supported by the executive search firm Perrett Laver. A campus-wide consultation was completed earlier this fall to inform the search process and establish the ideal profile for the university’s next VPR.
The search committee aims to identify a successful candidate to start in the role of VPR on or before July 1, 2025. Andy Knights will continue to serve as acting vice-president, Research during the search process.
The appointment of the successful candidate will be announced once confirmed by the Senate and Board of Governors
