Whidden Hall reopened

Residents of Whidden Hall are returning to their rooms and the building is re-open after Hamilton Police and Hamilton Fire confirmed a package found inside was a harmless and improperly discarded jar.
The University thanks students and members of the community for their patience during this time.
UPDATE – 11:15 am
Whidden Hall has been closed temporarily while Hamilton Police and Fire Services respond to a suspicious package. The package will be relocated for further testing and no further actions are required. Campus remains open and classes and events are continuing as scheduled.
Students who are residents of Whidden Hall are able to wait in Centro or Commons buildings. Thank you for avoiding the area while this work is completed.
UPDATE – 10:00 am
The University is taking precautionary steps after a package was found on the third floor of Whidden Hall. The package had a handwritten label indicating potential hazardous materials.
The floor has been closed pending an inspection of the package and no further actions are required at this time. Hamilton Police will attend the building to investigate.
