Searches for new Chief of Staff and Director, Strategic Planning, underway
As President Susan Tighe works to establish her core team, the searches for two key roles within the President’s Office have begun.
The Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor to the President will serve as a trusted advisor providing executive-level support to the President and overseeing the effective functioning of the Office of the President. The Chief of Staff supports the President in advancing the University’s priorities, leads the coordination and resolution of complex institutional issues and plays a key role in enabling effective decision making and operational alignment across the University.
The current Chief of Staff, Rob Walters, will be concluding his role at the end of October after more than three years of providing high-level, dedicated service and support to former President David Farrar, and assisting with President Tighe’s transition into the President’s Office. Walters also supported a number of major institutional initiatives, including advancing the development of Wilson College, the McMaster Dialogues series, and the Canada-Caribbean Institute.
Consideration of candidates will begin in late July, with applications welcomed from both internal and external candidates. All interested applicants are encouraged to apply through KBRS, the search firm which has been engaged to support this recruitment.
The Director, Strategic Planning, is a two-year secondment role responsible for coordinating the development and initial implementation of McMaster’s next institutional strategic plan. The Director will serve as the architect of a consultative and inclusive strategic planning process and will support President Tighe in articulating the long-term vision, direction, and priorities of the University, and finalizing the new strategic plan. All qualified internal applicants are encouraged to apply through the Mosaic website.
