Eye-catching science: Submit an image for Science Exposed 2025 photo competition

Submit a vibrant image of your research to the Science Exposed contest today for a chance to win $2,000 and to showcase your work across Canada.

Science Exposed is accepting submissions for its 2025 research image competion. Researchers from all fields can submit one eye-catching image that showcases their research.

The contest is open to all individuals or groups conducting research in the public or private sector in Canada, including undergraduate students, graduate students and research professors.

Images must be submitted with a three-part text description:

  • a catchy title
  • a plain-language explanation of the research presented in the image
  • and a description of the technique or technology used to create the image.

Submissions are due Jan. 28, 2025.

The images with the most successfully combined creativity and science will be awarded one of many cash prizes.

Organized by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), Science Exposed is designed to help foster a science culture in Canada by capturing vibrant research images that showcase the talented research community’s work.

These images will help the Canadian population better understand and see, through the same lens as the research community, the work that is being done behind the scenes.
