Schrobilgen honoured by American Chemical Society
Gary Schrobilgen of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology was recently honoured by a symposium at the 248th National Meeting of the American Chemical Society.
The symposium, entitled “Exploring the Frontiers of Fundamental and Applied Fluorine Chemistry,” honoured Schrobilgen for his lifetime achievements in the field of inorganic fluorine chemistry.
The symposium was held in San Francisco, CA (August 11-14, 2014) in which 51 experts in the field from 14 countries delivered lectures and 20 other participants presented posters. Recent basic and applied research from a variety of disciplines that comprise the broad field of fluorine chemistry was presented.
The symposium events also included a banquet in Schrobilgen’s honour and a reception, sponsored by the McMaster University Alumni Association, for his current and former students and postdoctoral fellows.
