Scheduled Network Maintenance – Sunday July 21, 2019
In an ongoing effort to increase McMaster’s network reliability and performance, please be advised that University Technology Services (UTS) has scheduled a network maintenance window for Sunday July 21, between 7:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon.
This maintenance is part of planned monthly UTS maintenance windows necessary to perform upgrades to our network. UTS will be using this time to update software on the university’s network infrastructure to improve overall service. This maintenance will be service impacting and you will experience instances of slow or unresponsive network.
Planned activities for the morning of Sunday, July 21 include:
- Applying recommended software updates to our Campus Internet Firewall. No service impact is expected.
- Applying recommended software and configuration updates to the campus Wi-Fi network. Short interruptions to Wi-Fi are to be expected.
- Router replacement impacting some off campus sites: Kitchener/Waterloo Remote Medical School, 1685 Main St. (Regional Medical Associates), 711 Concession St. (OCOG), 50 Charlton (St. Joseph’s Hospital), Ward Ave Parking Lot, and Niagara Regional Service (St. Catharine’s)
- Applying network software upgrades affecting wired and wi-fi connectivity and phones (VoIP), in the following locations: David Braley Health Campus, Mills Library, John Hodgins Engineering, A.N. Bourns Building, L.R. Wilson Hall, Chester New Hall, Kenneth Taylor Hall, Gilmour Hall (GH), Edwards Hall, Moulton Hall, Whidden Hall, Matthews Hall, McKay Hall, Woodstock Hall, Brandon Hall, Bates Residence, Mary Keyes, Woodstock, Hedden, Les Prince Hall. Short network service interruptions are to be expected.
