Scheduled network maintenance Feb. 24
In an ongoing effort to increase McMaster’s network reliability and performance, please be advised that University Technology Services (UTS) has scheduled a network maintenance window for Sunday, February 24 between 6:30 a.m. and 12:00 noon.
A number of network services will be affected by this maintenance, including:
- Intermittent periods of campus Internet service interruption are expected early in the morning, impacting traffic such as email, web, and off-campus access to campus IT resources. VPN is also affected.
- Intermittent periods of wireless (Wi-Fi) interruption affecting Mac-WiFi, MacSecure, Eduroam and Mohawk-WiFi (IAHS)
- Intermittent network (wired and Wi-Fi) and telephone interruptions to One James North (OJN), Downtown Hamilton
- Complete network outage to portions of the west side, basement and first floor of the A.N. Bourns Science Building.
This maintenance is part of planned monthly UTS maintenance windows necessary to perform upgrades to our network. UTS will be using this time to add more capacity to the university’s network infrastructure and improve overall service. This maintenance will impact service, and users will experience instances of slow or unresponsive networks.
