Nominate a colleague for the President’s Awards for Outstanding Teaching
The campus community is invited to play a part in recognizing those talented teachers at McMaster who have consistently cultivated a rich learning environment for their students. Nominations are now being accepted for The President’s Award for Outstanding Contributions to Teaching and Learning and faculty, staff and students are encouraged to take this time to honour those who excel at educating.
The awards were initiated in 1993 as a measure of acknowledging superior contributions faculty have made to the student community. A glance through the list of accomplished past recipients is a testament to the continuous creative and innovative teaching techniques that have taken place in McMaster’s lecture halls and classrooms over the years.
“The award is our opportunity to celebrate those scholars who engage their students by possessing and demonstrating an infectious enthusiasm for their chosen discipline,” says President Patrick Deane.
The award is offered through the Office of the President and administered by the McMaster Institute for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (MIIETL). Recipients will receive a $5,000 honorarium, a citation of excellence and memento presented at the Spring Convocation, have their name inscribed on a plaque of recipients and membership in McMaster’s growing community of award-winning educators.
“We are calling on the campus community to showcase educators who embrace the dynamic processes of teaching and learning – those who use creative pedagogical and technological approaches and have a clear commitment to meeting student needs,” says Arshad Ahmad, Associate Vice-President, Teaching and Learning, MIIETL.
The nomination brief deadline is January 15, 2014. Complete details can be found at http://cll.mcmaster.ca/awards_and_grants/president_award.html
