McMaster ranked one of top five Canadian universities in U.S. News ranking

McMaster has ranked among the top five universities in Canada according to the 2023 edition of the Best Global Universities ranking.

As one of Canada’s most research-intensive universities, McMaster’s ranking highlights both the global impact of its research and the institution’s global reputation.  McMaster was one of only two Ontario universities in the top five in Canada.

The list, published by U.S. News, ranks universities based on their region. Rankings are based on thirteen indicators, including both global and regional research reputation; publications and books; conferences; normalized citation impact; total citations; number of publications that are among both the 10 per cent and 1 per cent most cited; percentage of total publications that are among both the 10 per cent and 1 per cent most cited; and various forms of international collaboration.

This ranking is the latest in a long line of recent impressive showings for McMaster. Earlier this year, Times Higher Education ranked McMaster 37th in the world for Global Impact, which recognizes the contributions of universities worldwide as they work to make the world a safer, more sustainable place.

Last month, the same publication also included McMaster in the top 85 universities around the world for the annual Times Higher Education World University Rankings. And earlier this week, sixteen McMaster researchers were named among Clarivate’s list of the world’s most highly cited researchers.
