McMaster hosts riders for 15th annual Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer

Approximately 3,500 cyclists, staff and volunteers will be hosted at McMaster from June 11 to 12 as they take part in the 15th annual Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer (RTCC). The 200 kilometre event has participants cycle from Toronto to Niagara Falls to raise funds for The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation (PMCF).

On Saturday, June 11, McMaster will serve as a halfway point, welcoming riders for an evening ceremony on the 10 acre field near the David Braley Athletics Centre (DBAC). Housing and Conference Services (HCS) will welcome over 1,000 overnight guests for accommodation.

Visitors, staff and students can expect to see increased traffic around campus during the week leading up to the event and through the weekend.

“We are so pleased to be able to welcome guests and groups for conference and event season for the first time in several years with the help of our campus partners, including Athletics and Recreation, Facility Services, Hospitality Services, Security Services and Parking Services,” said manager, Conference and Event Services, Laurie Ham.

“The Ride values teamwork, and every one of our campus partners has been instrumental in ensuring the event’s success as we plan to welcome the participants of this important cause.”

Permit holders for Lot G and H on campus should be aware that these lots will be closed from Wednesday, June 8th to Monday, June 13th for event purposes. Transponder access will be available in Lot E for those permit holders affected during this time. More information will be sent by Parking Services via email.

“Our Conference and Events team is thrilled to see our campus come to life with exciting events again this summer,” Ham said.
