McMaster’s 10 Bay residence nominated for design award

McMaster’s 10 Bay residence is a finalist for an interior design award.

The residence is nominated for a 2024 ARIDO (Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario) Award in the “Live Together” category, which recognizes excellence in the design of common areas and amenities.

A panel of interior design professionals will judge nominees, with winners to be announced at the 2024 ARIDO Awards gala on Oct. 3.

“10 Bay represents McMaster’s dedication to providing students with a space that supports not just their academic endeavours but also their health, social and community needs,” said Kevin Beatty, director of the university’s Housing & Conference Services.

“We are thrilled to see this building recognized by ARIDO for its impact on student life.”

The awards recognize designs that promote equity, diversity, accessibility and inclusion.

With these values in mind, 10 Bay’s design fosters interaction between residents through multiple shared spaces, including the lobby, arcade, music, movie and creative rooms and study spaces.

The focus on amenities is part of McMaster’s goal to build community and support student well-being and academic success.
