Mac’s Athletics and Recreation director returning to NBA

The director of Athletics and Recreation at McMaster, Glen Grunwald, has accepted a new consulting role with a team in the National Basketball Association.

“Under Glen’s leadership, Athletics & Recreation has created a bold vision for the future, strengthened its operations, engaged meaningfully with the Hamilton community, and most importantly, nurtured a positive and welcoming environment for all students and student-athletes,” said Sean Van Koughnett,  associate vice-president (students and Learning) and dean of students. “Through both the development of an amazing team of students, coaches and staff, and through plans for growth in student activity and fitness space, Glen undoubtedly leaves the department well-positioned for future success.”

Grunwald has been with McMaster for the past four years.  “Working with everyone here at Mac and across U Sports has been so rewarding and inspiring – particularly our students.  Our future will be in good hands when these young people take their place in society.  To my colleagues, I want to thank you for your hard work, as well as your advice, support and wisdom.”

Interim arrangements for the leadership of Athletics and Recreation and plans for the search for a new director will shared as they are available.
