After four years of negotiations, the Colombian government and Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), the country’s largest guerilla group, signed a peace treaty ending half a century of violent conflict.

On May 8, 2017, join Peter Mascher, Associate Vice-President, International Affairs, in conjunction with the Colombian/Canadian Dialogue, for a public event that discusses the achievements and challenges of the Colombian Peace process and asks what lessons Canadians can learn to help build a more just, peaceful and sustainable future for all.

The discussion will be moderated by Jorge Fabra-Zamora, Co-convener, Andrés Molina and Nancy Doubleday, the HOPE Chair in Peace and Health.

This event is part of The Colombian Peace Process with FARC: Achievements, Failures and Challenges, the inaugural conference under the theme, “Global Perspectives on Peace,” organized by the HOPE Chair for Peace and Health, in cooperation with Bertrand Russell Research Centre and with funding from Participedia, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council.
