Lane reduction at Main Street campus entrance delayed to Tuesday April 16
Update April 15:
A section of University Avenue, located at McMaster’s Main Street campus entrance, between Forsyth Avenue and College Crescent, will be reduced to one lane on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, from 7:30 a.m. to noon.
The lane reduction that was previously scheduled for Monday, April 15 has been delayed due to a technical issue.
Traffic control staff will be on site to prioritize emergency vehicles and traffic travelling north from Forsyth Avenue to College Crescent.
This lane reduction is required for a Hamilton Health Sciences project that includes the setup of a construction crane and lifting of construction materials onto the roof of the McMaster University Medical Centre. Access to McMaster University Medical Centre will remain open.
During this time, you may notice increased vehicular traffic along Forsyth Avenue leading to the Sterling Street campus entrance, and along Cootes Drive to the west campus entrance. Please plan for extra travel time.
To keep our community safe, maintain traffic flow and minimize the impact of this closure, temporary road signs and barriers will be in place.
Pedestrians accessing campus at the Main Street entrance are encouraged to use the sidewalks between Engineering Technology Building and T13.
Please be aware that the scheduled setup and use of the construction crane is weather-dependent; delays due to high winds or lightning may extend the road closure. Any changes to the schedule will be posted on dailynews.mcmaster.ca.
