Free Your Course: How going Open can work for you and your students, March 4
Catherine Anderson, assistant professor in McMaster’s Department of Linguistics and Languages, and Digital Pedagogy Specialist Anastassiya Yudintseva will discuss how Introduction to Linguistics broke free from the constraints of an expensive commercial textbook, and how they collaborated to create an Open Educational Resource (OER) for the course. They will talk about the funding opportunity, the design process, the technology and the flexibility offered by the open textbook. Students’ responses to using the open textbook will also be discussed.
Members of McMaster’s OER Committee will be on hand to answer any questions you might have if you are considering creating or using OER in your courses.
Lunch will be provided and available from 11:45 am.
