National Indigenous Peoples Day 2025

Saturday, June 21, is National Indigenous Peoples Day, a time to especially honour and celebrate the history, resilience, diversity and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis across Canada.

Today is not only a moment of celebration, but also a call to learning and reflection,” the Equity and Inclusion Office notes. “It is an opportunity to deepen our understanding of the ongoing challenges Indigenous Peoples face, and the vital work of reconciliation and solidarity. We must commit to allyship grounded in humility, respect, and sustained action. True allyship is not a label to claim it is earned through ongoing learning, unlearning, and meaningful relationship-building with Indigenous nations, each with unique traditions and identities.” Click here for the full statement.

The Iroquois Confederacy/ Haudenosaunee  (Six Nations) Flag has been raised over University Hall and will remain there through the weekend.
