Discovering global health in your future

Undergraduates interested in doing research around global health issues will have the perfect opportunity to learn more about global health at a special forum being held on January 26, 2013 at Brock University.

The event Discovering Global Health in your Future is an interdisciplinary co-production of Brock and McMaster Universities in alliance with the Canadian Coalition for Global Health Research (CCGHR).

According to Dr. Ana Sanchez, Forum Co-chair at Brock University, “Undergraduates are too often overlooked when it comes to research”  Professors Iris Mujica and Marianne Paul, McMaster Forum Co-chairs share Dr. Sanchez’ sentiments and invite undergraduate students to come and learn about global health that spans the fields of medical or natural sciences and the social sciences and humanities.  With a full day of workshops and break-out discussions, undergraduate students will dialogue with researchers and experts from international health and humanitarian organizations.  Topics include careers in global health, how to select global health graduate programs, integrating theatre and the arts in global health, and the ethics of global health placements.  A poster session and exhibitor displays from various global health graduate programs and NGOs will also be added features of the full day event.

Registration is available at www.ccghr.ca and the registration deadline is January 14, 2013.  The student rate is $20 and the faculty rate is $50.  Free bus transportation (compliments of the HBSc program at McMaster), to and from the conference venue at Brock will be available.
