Improve your digital skills: New digital fluency learning platforms for employees

McMaster is introducing a suite of on-demand learning resources designed to help employees enhance their digital skills.

The new Digital Capabilities Learning Hub offers a variety of centralized learning content that employees can access at their own pace, making it easier than ever to upskill.

Developed in partnership with Human Resources Services, University Technology Services, the University Library and Future Workplace Strategy Committee, the hub features learning paths on Generative AI, optimizing workflow with Microsoft 365 and data-driven decision-making and storytelling.

In addition, Viva Learning, embedded within Microsoft Teams, provides on-demand, bite-sized videos that can fit into any schedule. Employees can get started with videos that provide tips and tricks on Microsoft Onedrive, Sharepoint, Outlook, and more.

“We’re excited to offer these learning opportunities to help employees stay ahead in an ever-evolving digital landscape,” said Franca Berti-Bogojevic, Director HR Strategic Partnerships and Initiatives.

“In a busy work environment, finding time to focus on learning can be challenging. These tools can help enhance efficiency so you can focus on what matters most.”

Here are some additional learning opportunities for employees:

  • LinkedIn Learning offers over 16,000 video-based courses taught by industry experts. Employees benefit from the flexibility to learn new skills by building a learning path or following pre-designed ones, at their own pace, at a computer or on the go. Sign into LinkedIn Learning directly or through Viva Learning to access these learning resources right in your Teams.
  • Navigating Busy Times: Prep for Fall is a virtual employee session on Aug. 20 at 1 p.m., covering the latest technology tools to optimize workflow and enhance productivity.
The Introducing Microsoft Loop session on Aug. 22 at 2 p.m. will provide a quick demo of this virtual collaboration tool. Registration for both events is required.
