Celebrating Safety and Health Week at McMaster

Safety and Health Week is underway at McMaster and across Canada. Safety and Health week is an opportunity to spread awareness about safety and well-being in the workplace, at home and in our community.

Held in the first full week of May, this year Safety and Health Week is taking place May 5 to May 10 and includes several events for our community to join, including a BBQ on Wednesday, May 7 in MUSC.

“A healthy and safe campus doesn’t happen by accident — it’s the result of countless efforts across our community,” said Saher Fazilat, Vice-President, Operations and Finance. “I’m grateful to everyone who plays a role in making McMaster a place where people feel safe, supported, and cared for.”

The week is also a chance to spotlight McMaster University’s annual health, safety, and well-being report, found on the University Health & Safety website, which provides an overview of the community’s efforts and commitment to maintaining a healthy and safe working and learning environment for all employees, students, and visitors.

“The health, safety, and well-being of our community is always our priority,” said Wanda McKenna, Associate Vice-President and Chief Human Resources Officer. “This shared commitment creates a community of leaders, unions, employees, and the dedicated work of our many Joint Health and Safety Committees, all working together to keep each other safe.”

As part of the week’s activities, join us at McMaster’s annual Safety and Health Week BBQ and Vendor Fair:
