Canada 150 Chair Jonathan Pruitt to give inaugural Discover Science lecture

On Thursday, September 27, join Jonathan Pruitt, a leading evolutionary ecologist and McMaster’s Canada 150 Chair, for Animal Leadership Mightn’t be Such a Good Idea, the inaugural lecture in the Discover Science series presented by McMaster’s Faculty of Science.

In this talk, Pruitt will explore the emergence of leadership in animal societies. He will compare animal societies that have leaders and those that don’t, discussing the functional differences between them, and shedding light on how animal leadership impacts the performance of a society.

About Jonathan Pruitt

Jonathan Pruitt completed his graduate studies at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville under the direction of Susan Riechert. He then conducted postdoctoral studies at the University of California, Davis with Andy Sih and Jay Stachowicz. He joined McMaster in 2018 as Canada 150 Chair in Biological Dystopias and is an associate professor in McMaster’s Department of Psychology, Neuroscience and Behaviour.
