Campus phone service outage resolved
Oct. 17 – 12 p.m.
UTS has completed work to resolve the widespread telephone issues that were experienced this week and service has been restored, although residual problems may still exist on some individual phones.
Oct. 15 – 8:30 p.m.
UTS has discovered the source of the widespread telephone disruption that was experienced today. It is working with the vendor to resolve it as quickly as possible. Intermittent phone issues will remain as the resolution plan is implemented; however, improvements will be continuous throughout Thursday and into mid-day Friday.
It is expected a full resolution will be implemented by mid-day Friday with all telephone services back to normal.
In Case of Emergency:
During this disruption, should you need to report an emergency please dial 911 on your cell phone. You may also direct dial McMaster Security from your cell phone: 905-522-4135 or use the Security Button (no charge) on any campus pay phone.
Oct. 15 – 2:30 p.m.
McMaster’s phone service is temporarily down. The main campus and satellite locations, including call centres, are still experiencing intermittent digital and IP telephone outages, as a result of maintenance work done this past weekend. Some service improvement has taken place, but intermittent outages are expected until maintenance scheduled for this evening can take place. Telecom is working with the vendor to ensure that all service is restored by 11 p.m. this evening.
Oct. 15 – 1:00 p.m.
Phone service has been restored to campus. UTS thanks you for your patience.
Oct. 15 – 12:15 p.m.
UTS is aware of the phone outages being reported from on and off campus locations. Telecom is actively working with the vendor to resolve. An update will be provided between 2:00 and 2:30.
