Archives Alive: Medieval Manuscripts, the Book of Hours

On February 12, join McMaster University Library archivists as they travel back in time and reveal the fascinating story behind a single manuscript book – the Book of Hours, one of the Library’s true gems.

Learn how the book was crafted by hand, from the production of the pages to the team of artists who wrote and illustrated the text. Discover the numerous ways the book was nearly lost to revolution, reformation, and war. Why have people taken the time to keep and care for this single tome for over five hundred years?

When: Wednesday, February 12, between 5:30-6:30 pm

Where: the William Ready Division of Archives and Research Collections, located in the lower level of Mills Memorial Library

This event is free and open to the public. Space is limited. REGISTER NOW
