In the wake of the egregious attacks at St Anthony’s Shrine in Colombo, St. Sebatian’s Church in Negombo, Zion Church in Batticaloa, residences and tourist sites in Sri Lanka, on Easter Sunday as well as the attack on the Cathedral of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Jolo, Philippines in January — The Chaplaincy Centre of McMaster is holding a Vigil of Lamentation and Solidarity on Wednesday, May 1st at 11:45AM in Mills Square outside of Mills library.
Martin Luther King’s words may offer some hope in the face of our profound shock and grief:
“When our days become dreary with low-hovering clouds of despair, and when our nights become darker than a thousand midnights, let us remember that there is a creative force in the universe, working to pull down the gigantic mountain of evil, a power that is able to make a way out of no way and transform dark yesterdays into bright tomorrows.”
