The number of obese children and adolescents has increased tenfold globally in the last 40 years, prompting governments and other organizations around the world to consider ways to tackle this issue. Without intervention, overweight children are likely to stay obese into adulthood and more likely to develop noncommunicable diseases at a younger age. Mobilizing the best-available data and research evidence to inform health systems strengthening efforts is an important step towards addressing this challenge. Kristina Köhler from EVIPNet Estonia will share her insights on this topic, and the lessons learned from her team’s recent experience in developing an evidence brief about this pressing issue.
