Transparency is all the rage in the social sciences. Yet, how exactly transparency can be pursued in qualitative research is very much still up for debate, especially when issues around positionality, reflexivity and protection of participants is of central concern. The Living Codebook shifts the transparency debate on how we can document the decision-making processes of research teams. In doing so, it highlights the importance of researcher positionality.

Host Bio: Victoria Reyes is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Gender & Sexuality Studies at University of California, Riverside. She is author of Global Borderlands: Fantasy, Violence and Empire in Subic Bay, Philippines (2019, Stanford University Press).
