New antibiotic resistance mechanisms are emerging and spreading globally, threatening our ability to treat common infectious diseases, resulting in prolonged illness, disability, and death. Mobilizing the best-available data and research evidence to inform health systems strengthening efforts is an important step towards addressing this challenge in the many jurisdictions confronted by it worldwide.
