Sociology students, Alan Santinele-Martino (PhD student) and Tianna-Lynn Follwell (4th-year undergraduate student), recently presenting their research, “Teaching at the Intersections: Identity, Social Location, and the Experiences of Teaching Assistants” at the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning conference in Bergen, Norway.

January 15 they will be sharing their research with the McMaster community.

This research was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Beth Marquis at the MacPherson Institute. Follwell and Santinele-Martino conducted interviews with teaching assistants to learn how their social locations, such as race, ethnicity and gender, affects their experiences in the classroom.
