John Terpstra calls himself one of the lucky ones: an artist who has found the balance between a creative calling and a job to put food on the table. He talks about his dual crafts, as a cabinetmaker and carpenter and as a poet and creative non-fiction writer, and how “one flows through and enriches the other.”

We’re fortunate that John has offered to share thoughts and excerpts from a new book-in-progress influenced by this long-term consideration of trees, prior to its launch later in the year. John’s many books have received wide acclaim and awards for his easy conversational, sometimes playful style and deeply thoughtful insights. His writing has also been among the finalists for the Governor General’s Literary Award and the Charles Taylor Prize.

Free public lecture, no registration required. Everyone welcome.
