Taking a holistic approach to frailty and resilience in older age: the roles of cognition, mobility, environment and loneliness

Guest speaker Dr. Carol Holland, psychologist and researcher at the Centre for Ageing Research at Lancaster University, will discuss how combining quantitative intervention outcomes associated with physical strength and qualitative measures capturing psychological resilience can explain how with people of similar levels of physical frailty show “resilience despite frailty.” The discussant for this seminar will be Dr. Marla Beauchamp, a Physical Therapist and Assistant Professor in the School of Rehabilitation Science at McMaster, who conducts research in mobility, aging and chronic disease.
