This year, Student Open Circles (SOC) is celebrating 20 years of diversity. Over the past two decades, SOC has brought McMaster students and Hamiltonians together to build our community and foster individual growth.
In line with the theme of our campaign, we are hosting 4 skill-sharing workshops themed “Together in Growing.” Our first workshop is “Sri Lankan Cooking in Community”.

What stronger uniting force is there than delicious homemade food? Join our mother-daughter duo, Saroja and Shunmathi Shanmugam, for a group class in Sri Lankan cooking! The workshop will cover 3 Sri Lankan curries, that can be paired with rice, rotis, pitas and more. Learn to cook 1 dessert popular in South India and Sri Lanka, and one that is featured in our crowd-sourced recipe book. Explore a unique cuisine and reflect on the beauty of multicultural skill-sharing with the Student Open Circles community.
