The School of Interdisciplinary Science in partnership with the McMaster Alumni Association is pleased to offer a FREE public lecture as part of the Science Stories: A Science Communication Speaker Series. This winter McMaster welcomes guest speaker Megan Ogilvie, an award winning health reporter at the Toronto Star and writer of the popular column, The Dish.
In this talk Megan Ogilvie will discuss the lessons learned from showcasing stories about a city’strees, delving into data journalism and writing a guide to taking action on climate change.
Megan Ogilvie has spent much of her 13-year career writing about science, health and medicine. Her favourite stories from the last few years include a Handbook on how people can fight climate change, a feature on why surgeons listen to music in the operating room, and a story about how a team of Toronto doctors made a new esophagus for a survivor of a brutal acid attack.
