Inspector Baltej Singh Dhillon reflects on his life experiences as the first Sikh Mountie in Canada. He will detail his RCMP journey and describe how it sparked controversy as he challenged the RCMP’s uniform tradition for religious accommodation. Inspector Dhillon will provide his perspective on how Canadian multiculturalism has evolved over the years and offer his insight on what it truly means to be Canadian.

Baltej Singh Dhillon has an Honorary Doctorate from Kwantlen Polytechnic University. Recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal (2003). Recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012) for Community Service and Youth Service. Multiple awards for his volunteer services and work in the community.
