Join Senator Rosa Galvez, independent senator for Quebec, on a discussion about Latin American Heritage month and the role Latin American immigrants play in Canada. Senator will briefly discuss her career in engineering and journey as an immigrant in academia and her eventual journey into Canadian politics. Following Senator Galvez’s talk, a panel discussion will occur with members of the Latin American community. Latin American community including:
• Dr. Mirna Carranza, Associate Professor, School of Social Work, McMaster University
• Nancy Ramirez, President, Asociación Fraternidad Hispana (AFH) de Hamilton
• Salomé Rodriguez Solarte, Co-President, Organization of Latin American Students (OLAS) of McMaster
This panel will be moderated by Dr. Andrés Felipe Fajardo, Pediatric Resident Doctor at McMaster University.

This event will be opened by:
• Dr. Arig al Shaibah, Associate Vice-President, Equity and Inclusion, McMaster University
• Sofia Palma Florido, Co-President, Organization of Latin American Students (OLAS) of McMaster.
