Please join us for a first look at the findings of the McMaster Basic Income Project. This event features the Hon. Hugh Segal, one of Canada’s foremost advocates for a basic income, as a special guest speaker.

The project report, Southern Ontario’s Basic Income Experience, is the work of McMaster researchers Mohammad Ferdosi (Political Science), Wayne Lewchuk (Labour Studies), Stephanie Ross (Labour Studies) and Ryerson University researcher Tom McDowell, in partnership with the Hamilton Roundtable for Poverty Reduction.

The McMaster Basic Income Project assessed the effectiveness of basic income as a policy tool to support people living on low incomes. The project report, which is based on surveys and interviews with participants in Hamilton and Brantford, offers insights into who benefited from the pilot in our region.

This project received funding from the Hamilton Community Foundation, McMaster University and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council.
