Leading in Health: Unconventional Career Trajectories in Health
Monday, May 3, 2021 | 6-7 p.m. EST

Emerging Leaders alumni will share their perspectives and personal leadership journeys on “unconventional” career paths in health. In the health industry there are many directions your career journey can take from entrepreneurship to politics, law, or technology. Explore different possibilities and opportunities during this interactive panel discussion and networking session with Chris Zhou (ELP 2017), Salma Chaudhry (ELP 2018) and Kobi Amponsah (ELP 2019).

Chris Zhou is a political staffer for the Canadian Minister of Small Business, Export Promotion, and International Trade. In his role, Chris oversees crisis communications, parliamentary affairs, and the Atlantic region. He is a graduate of McMaster Health Sciences and the 2017 ELP cohort. With a keen interest in health policy and international affairs, Chris has worked on advocacy around the world through the Prime Minister’s Youth Council, Junior Team Canada, and Young Diplomats of Canada. Chris is always seeking to engage with like-minded (and not-so-like-minded) people, so please don’t hesitate to reach out!

Prior to going to law school Salma Chaudhry graduated from the University of Toronto, and subsequently completed a M.Sc. in Global Health at McMaster University. Following her M.Sc., she worked at the Institute on Ethics & Policy for Innovation (the ethics advisor for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation). During her 1L year she co-founded the Cannabis Law Society.

Kobi Amponsah has been in the healthcare industry for over 8 years. His sole mission in healthcare is to be a catalyst in bridging the gap between healthcare and technology. Kobi has run multiple businesses during his tenure and currently he is offering much needed value in the fields of digital health, investing, and innovation to those willing to learn.
