Daniel Coleman, Professor of English at McMaster University, will share his journey to find ‘home’ as recorded in his latest book Yardwork. He tells of his move to this city, and his intentional effort to understand the land in his west-end neighbourhood. The book meditates on the sedimentary layers of ecological, cultural and political stories that make up Hamilton. Along the way, Coleman strives to build a new awareness of the place where he lives as sacred land. ‘Yardwork’ was a 2018 finalist for the RBC Taylor Prize.
