How did the Bertrand Russell Archives arrive at McMaster? And does that story intersect with Bertrand Russell’s political life? As well, his need for liquid assets to support his Peace Foundation’s work and the possibility that his anti-Vietnam War gave potential institutional purchasers in the U.S. cold feet about acquiring Russell’s papers.

Join us for this talk at the McMaster Museum of Art with the exhibition Undying Hope for this Dangerous World: Bertrand Russell in perspective, curated by the William Ready Division of Archives and Research Collections, McMaster University Library. The exhibit explores the life of Bertrand Russell, one of the foremost public intellectuals of the 20th century, through artwork, artefacts, photographs, and his own personal papers with a particular focus on his political activism and personal relationships.

Myron Groover and Andrew Bone
